Yarn of the Month - Red & Sparkles!

It's the holiday season, time to get some glitz!  To help you celebrate, we have red yarns and sparkley yarns at 15% off for the month.  Add some silver sparkles with Kraemer Sterling or some sequins with Berroco Mirror FX!  Making a present for someone special?  How about some red Manos del Uruguay or burgundy Jo Sharp Silk Road?  So many choices!

New Yarns - Alpaca with a Twist

We are delighted to be carrying Alpaca with a Twist!  Here are some of their lovely yarns that are in the shop now:

• Fino - 70% Baby Alpaca, 30% Silk.  This 2-ply laceweight yarn with a subtle sheen comes in 100g hanks, each with 875 yards!  Perfect for a soft, drapey scarf or shawl.  We have this in a wonderful red, pictured to the right.  And remember, red yarns are 15% off for the month!
• Baby Twist - 100% Baby Alpaca.  This comes in an enormous 250g hank - that's over half a pound of yarn!  It's wonderfully soft, a 3-ply DK that would be great for any cuddly project.
• Temptation - 80% Baby Alpaca, 20% Silk.  This is another 2-ply alpaca/silk blend, but much thicker than the Fino.  It's a solid-color tweedy DK yarn that would be great for hats or sweaters.

Classes

• New Class - Kids Can Knit!  We've had several kids come into the shop who want to learn how to knit, so we're having a special kids class!  This is a great opportunity - who doesn't wish they had learned to knit sooner?  The class will be taught in two, one-hour segments so the kids won't have to sit still for too long.  The first class will be learning the knit stitch, and the second class will be learning the purl stitch.  Kids must be between 8 and 12 years of age, and Moms, Dads, Grammies, and Grandpas are welcome too!  Needles and yarn are included in the cost.  December 10th and 11th, 10AM-11AM, $25
  
• Last-Minute One Skein Hat - Need a last-minute quick to knit gift?  Learn how to make a quick knit hat with short rows and the kitchener stitch!  December 12th, 10AM-12PM, $35, taught by Bonni Raine

Beer and Knitting - last for this year!

Don't miss the final Beer and Knitting installment on Sunday, December 13th - Christmas Beers and Christmas Ornaments.

For those of you who missed it last year, this class is back. For those of you who attended this class last year, it will be different. Holiday beers are always delicious and many of them change annually, as will the pattern offering for the ornaments. We will kick off the holidays the right way by starting the class with the 2009 Anchor Brewing Company Christmas Ale!

Well Done, Mama Bear!

The Mama Bear project, started this year by Lois Crotser, was a huge success.  A committed group of knitters met at the shop every Friday at 10AM, starting last spring.  They knit over 30 scarves, 20 hats, 5 pairs of gloves, and 8 cuddly animals, which were all donated to the Prado Day Center for the Homeless.  We're so proud of the Mama Bears, and delighted that they will warm some hearts this holiday season.

Chorro Hill Happenings

Wave hello to Anne during the San Luis Obispo Christmas Parade on December 4th!  She'll be driving her truck in the parade, which will be representing all the Chorro Hill shops!
